Stump Removal

Stump Removal

Once trees have been felled, often the final stage is to remove the tree stump which will have been left above ground level.  There are many reasons why you might want to get rid of a tree stump.

Safety  To eliminate a trip hazard.

Growth To stop any future suckering where new shoots arise from the trunk and roots.

Disease Stumps can attract honey fungus and other wood rotting organisms which can spread the disease throughout the ground to other trees.

How can we help

As well as digging and winching your stumps out, we can also grind them using our specialist equipment. We mechanically grind out the main root plate, leaving fine sawdust.  We have a range of different capacity equipment to remove the smallest to the largest of tree stumps, even in the most difficult of locations.

It is worth specifying how deep you would like the stump ground to.  We can shallow grind to a depth of approximately 20-25cm (8-10in) which is suitable for laying turf or deeper, 30cm (1ft) or more if replanting or landscaping. The sawdust can either be left to fill in the hole or used as mulch in other areas of the garden – or we can take it away.

We can also leave the stump if stump grinding isn’t a requirement as they can make a nice feature and of course, it reduces cost. They can be removed in the future should the need arise.
